Friends on a Rainy Day

Left the house yesterday thinking, "Oh, it's gonna pour... Oh, I hope it doesn't pour hard!" I've never really been a rainy day person. Actually, I'm not that much of a sunny person as well, unless it's sunny AND windy. I'm more of the cloudy kind. Chill weather, I love that. Because all I ever associate with rain and too much sun is stress. Haha.

I went to Katipunan to meet up with my girlfriends and by the time I got off the LRT it was thundering hard. Thankfully, by the time we arrived at our stop for lunch, the rain has subdued. We decided to eat at Crazy Katsu in Maginhawa St. because I'd told them a bunch of times that I really wanted to try their katsu!

We all tried their best-seller, which was Chicken Katsu, and it was really good! I liked that the sauce was tangy and just spicy enough for me. Just looking at the picture makes me want to run to the place and order some more katsu!

After having our fill of yummy food and good talk, we headed to Moonleaf for a milk tea fix. Then, more catching up about our lives and other milk tea places we've tried (more on this on another post!) ensued. By this time, the sky was cloudy and I was happy. :)

When in good company, a gloomy day can turn into one of the nicest days you've ever had.

The Year That Was

So it's been another year... But 2011 really wasn't just another year for me. This year has brought a lot of new experiences, new friendships, and new discoveries, albeit little, about myself.

I started 2011 thinking I was soon to embark on my last year of college and how I wanted it to be somehow a memorable last year in UST. Looking back, I can say my senior year has been more than I bargained for, and the great thing is, it isn't totally over yet. Before my days as a senior started though, I had to finish my internship for the summer. Having to wake up early to travel to Makati and stay at the office for 8 hours easily became a routine but it wasn't all bad. I made new friends in two of my batchmates who worked with me in the same company. One time we even made plans to meet with some of our other batchmates who were also working in the area and had time to share stories with some of whom we don't normally have a proper conversation with at school.

Then it was back to attending classes at school. I guess we are just really blessed that all of us in class have bonded, and thank God it happened during our last year together. From our retreat in Caleruega to going to Cebu and Bohol with the whole batch (which I'm going to talk about more a little later) and to having an all-nighter Christmas party, it has been one heck of an enjoyable semester with my lovely classmates and friends. One thing I learned this year is that even though it's hard for me to change my mind about people, it helps a lot when it's them who try to show you that other side of them you might like. Like they say, it takes two to tango.

Eclipse

Today I had a very much needed break from school by watching Eclipse with my lovely friends. Yeah, I know it hasn't been a whole month yet since regular classes started but I already feel like crap seeing as my only free time is Sunday. I should be thankful a bucket load of projects haven't been thrown our way yet or else I wouldn't know of the meaning of "free time." I don't even get the sense of "TGIF" anymore because Fridays are most sucky for me. Sigh.

Anyway, this post wasn't supposed to be about school, sorry about that. So I watched Eclipse with my friends this afternoon and I think, for me, it did not disappoint at all. It was actually an improvement from the last two films. (Although, this opinion might be biased because Eclipse was my favorite book of the saga.) I gotta say, though, that I enjoyed the extra make-out scenes between Edward and Bella. Major kilig factor. Haha. Screw Jacob and his doggy ways. I'm still and forever will be Team Edward although Jacob claims that he is "hotter". My friend says she's Team Jacob just because he's hot. And he's so cute as a werewolf. Well, I think vampires are more amazing, especially if he's as "old school" and gentlemanly as Edward. <3

I actually enjoyed hanging out with this certain group of friends of mine after a long time. I guess it was silly of me having thoughts about how it would feel different and maybe awkward because I haven't been normally hanging out with them at school unlike before. But it totally wasn't, though, and I like that. I think that just goes to show that you don't need spending time together most of the time to define friendship. Sometimes a little distance can do you good. And the best thing is you know you can count on them still even if you don't see each other all the time. :)

That's what friends are for

Things money can't buy: #3 That good feeling you get when you know for sure that you are loved

Picture this: You don't have a boyfriend to tell you to go to sleep and bid you good night and then out of the blue, your best girlfriend calls you in the middle of the night in reply to a text message that you can't fall asleep having said that you have to wake up early in the morning for school. She then jokingly sings you a lullaby to make you fall asleep. Although it didn't totally work and you only end up staying awake later, that's when you know you are truly loved. <3

Things money can't buy: Birthday Edition

#1 Fun times with good friends

Wednesday, May 26

My actual birthday. The night before I wholeheartedly spent watching the 2-hour season finale of Chuck until maybe 2 in the morning. That day, I met up with two of my girls who I haven't seen in forever (!!) at Trinoma. We were supposed to watch The Last Song but we decided on Shrek Forever After instead. It was hilarious! After the movie I treated them to some yummy ice cream and then we went on our way to my house in time to catch Glee's GaGa episode. It was so much fun being able to hang out with them again after a really long time. And I love the fact it's always like nothing has changed since the last time we talked to/saw each other. There's nothing like quality time spent with your best friends. :)

#2 The most funny and random conversations
shared over good food

Friday, May 28

Went on a date with my brother's gf, Ate Jaymee. She took me out to the movies and we watched the hot and sexy Jake Gyllenhaal in Prince of Persia at MOA. After spending the whole afternoon just roaming around the mall, we took a ride to Cubao and ended up in Gateway where we had dinner at Burgoo. We practically went around Manila, Makati and Quezon City in less than a day. (Which is probably why even though I already woke up at lunchtime today I still was feeling sleepy.)

But even though it was hella tiring, I absolutely enjoyed the day. There was a teeny tiny bit of that night that I could have done without, though. I so did not expect to be surprised with a Happy Birthday song from the waiters. It was a total set-up. See, there was this other group who has their friend celebrating her birthday there at the restaurant and they did the birthday singing for her first. I was talking to Ate Jaymee about how embarrassing that would be if it happened to me and I guess that's where she got the idea of doing it to me lol. You should have seen my initial reaction. No, actually, erase that. There was no initial reaction because I couldn't process what was happening in that moment. It was so funny to me. LOL. If there was a video of that, it would have gone viral by now. Hahahaha, kidding. :))

Hey, at least I got a complimentary birthday ice cream! ;)

Note: As you can see, I've started this "things money can't buy" list which I came up with randomly while thinking of how to share what I did for my birthday (as you have read). As of now I don't really have any idea how many things I actually want to list, or how often I would post entries like this. Let's leave that subject matter for next time.

All the roads we have to walk are winding

Today is gonna be the day that they're gonna throw it back to you. By now you should have somehow realized what you're gonna do. I don't believe that anybody feels the way I do about you now.

I said maybeeeeee, you're gonna be the one that saves meeeee.

Wonderwall by Oasis (trust that I totally just erased what I wrote because it said "Oasis by Wonderwall" instead of having it vice versa, okay, moving on...). Covered by Rihanna on her Last Girl On Earth Tour. This right here, is the epitome of LSS a.k.a last song syndrome.

So in my purpose of wanting to shove my sappy blog post yesterday to the side, let me tell you about how boring my day was and might as well prove how much the little things make me happy as a clam.

  • Woke up earlier than usual at about half-past nine. Usually I wake up at 11 in the morning, or later. It's summer vacation protocol.
  • After breakfast, Father asked me to come with him to visit my ninang (godmother). It was fun just sitting and catching up with her while sipping pineapple juice. :)
  • On the way there, I was turning up the radio in the car and my station was playing Rihanna's Rockstar 101. How rad was that.
  • I was actually thankful for Facebook chat this afternoon cause after what seemed like years (which was only actually 3 weeks), I finally got to chat with my friend again who I always talk to. We talk about a million different things all at once but usually we just talk about music and Rihanna, Lady GaGa, Beyonce and stuff like that. At one point, we were talking about Beyonce being cast as Wonderwoman...
  • And then I got on YM to talk to one of my girls about their coming over and having an overnight at my place for my birthday and we actually ended up chatting for a long while. I missed that. I miss her! I miss all my girls! She actually said something that melted my heart, something like, "Even though we don't usually talk, you're still always there." <3 And we decided we're going to watch The Last Song on my bday which is going to be fantastic.
  • I made a listography page. :)
  • Finally, I have just seen Smallville's season finale and boy, was it such a cliffhanger!! They always do that, though, I wonder why I always still get pissed that it ends when it ends. I can't believe I'm gonna have to wait for a couple more months before the airing of the next episode. It would be much better if I had my brother home with me. We would be freaking out like craaaazy, especially with the way how it ended. Actually, even from the beginning of the episode it was already mind-blowing. Okay, let me stop there before I make this post into a Smallville finale recap.

So that's it. You can pretty much tell that I live in the Internet. When I'm not online, I'm either asleep or I'm eating. Or watching TV. Usually that's just Wednesdays when Glee is on. Okaaaay. It's 12:23 AM and I should probably be heading to bed, or at least, try to. Good night, world.

One time fun time

So guess what? After numerous failed attempts in the past year, today I actually got to meet up with one of my online friends, Romina. (Finally!!!) Yes, I do feel a sense of satisfaction in this little "achievement" of mine. LOL. It's fate I tell you. She texted me this morning and I wasn't able to respond because I forgot that I had no load the night before. But good thing she passed right where I was standing by. Yup, definitely fate.

And who could have thought that we would be able to bond over breakfast? I didn't. Thanks, Uncle Bob for that. Haha. It feels so nice to finally get to talk with her in person after only talking to her through internet and text for so long. :)

Let me scratch this post's title though, 'cause this definitely won't be the first and last time that we'll get to hang out IRL since we now go to the same university. Cheers to more fun times together! I hope Candice will get to tag along the next time!
